Virtually everything we do has been profoundly affected by the Information Revolution: How we travel, how we shop, how we communicate, how we do business. Computers, telecommunications and software have combined to change human existence in every way imaginable. Indeed the changes are so profound that two World Summits on Information Society are underway - one in Geneva 2003 and one in Tunis in 2005.

CODATA is officially a WSIS related thematic meeting
The World Summit on the Information Society has acknowledged CODATA 2004 as an event leading to Tunis 2005.

CODATA 2004 Prize Press Release
The 2004 CODATA Prize recipient is Professor Jean Bonnin, President of the Association "Earth Data Network for Education and Scientific Exchange" (EDNES).

Featured Sessions
CODATA 2004 has a number of featured sessions, including keynotes, plenaries, and selected special sessions such as Publication and Citation of Scientific Informatiobn, Scientific Data Mark-Up Languages, Long-term preservation of accurate and authentic digital data: The InterPARES project, and Environmental Informatics.
